HERS Leadership Institute
The HERS Leadership Institute (HLI) is at the heart of our mission to create a more inclusive and equitable future for higher education leaders. The HLI is a transformational leadership development program designed to empower bold, visionary leaders ready to drive change in their institutions and beyond.
The program is offered in two formats to accommodate diverse schedules and needs: the Intensive HLI, a 9-week summer immersion experience, and the Weekend HLI, a staggered program spanning three weekends for a total of 9 days. Both formats provide participants with the tools, insights, and network needed to excel in leadership roles, fostering a pipeline of diverse and dynamic leaders who are prepared to shape the future of higher education.

Leadership Retreat for Presidents and chancellors
Our inaugural HERS Leadership Retreat for Presidents and Chancellors, held in December 2024, was a groundbreaking event designed to support women and gender-diverse leaders in higher education, offering a retreat-like atmosphere for reflection, connection, and skill-building. Featuring dynamic programming, the retreat inspired and equipped participants to navigate the complexities of their roles as presidents and chancellors while fostering meaningful networking and peer support. As higher education leaders face unprecedented challenges, this gathering serves as a beacon of hope and empowerment, leaving participants with fresh insights, strengthened connections, and actionable strategies to drive positive change at their institutions. HLI Conference & Reunion
Our inaugural HERS Leadership Institute (HLI) Conference & Reunion, held June 4–7, 2026, celebrated 50 years of the transformative impact of the HERS Leadership Institute. HERS alumnae, friends, and sponsors gathered at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania to commemorate this milestone with four days of learning, connection, and celebration.
The conference featured back-to-back sessions and panels led by fellow HLI alumnae, offering opportunities to reflect on the past, engage with today’s leadership challenges, and shape the future of higher education.
