Program Info
Join Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) for a 3-part virtual workshop series focused on intentional career planning for leaders in higher education. This program is open to participants of all genders. It is designed for professionals who are reflecting on their career direction, preparing for a career transition, or considering a strategic pivot in higher education or related fields.
Through self-reflective and hands-on activities, group dialogue, peer engagements, and facilitator-led conversations, you will explore the following questions:
- Who am I?
- What do I want?
- How do I get there?
- What do I need?
By answering these questions, you can find a new direction for your career that energizes you (or reenergizes you), is attainable with the right next steps, and leads to higher career satisfaction.
Read below for detailed descriptions of the program sessions, including facilitators and learning outcomes.
This program is open to participants of all genders and is geared toward professionals who are reflecting on their career direction, preparing for a career transition or considering a strategic pivot in higher education or adjacent fields.
Who should attend
This virtual program is designed for higher education professionals who are ready to take the next step in their careers—whether that means advancing, pivoting, or re-establishing their professional identity.
Early-to-Mid Career Professionals
You’ve been in your first higher education role for 3-5 years and are beginning to think beyond entry-level work. Eager to build momentum toward a promotion and gain confidence in your skills, this program will help you articulate your transferable strengths, clarify your career direction, and prepare for the leap into your next role.
Pivoting Professionals
After nearly a decade in your role, you’re ready for a new challenge. You’re wondering how to broaden your scope into areas like student success or enrollment management—without starting over. This program provides the structure, tools, and support to assess your transferable skills, identify growth opportunities, and strategically shift into a new functional area that excites and inspires you.
Re-Entering or Re-Positioning Leaders
Life changes, relocations, or new aspirations may have you considering a fresh direction. Your imagining stepping away from a faculty role and exploring opportunities in academic administration, nonprofits, or consulting. If you’re seeking clarity on your options, confidence in reframing your past experiences, and momentum to re-establish your professional identity, this program will help you craft a compelling narrative that positions you for leadership and meaningful new opportunities.
For those who are actively applying for or seeking executive-level roles, we recommend registering for the Next Stages, Next Steps program.
